Okay. I know what you’re thinking, so go on and say it.
You thought… now this is hard for me.
You thought I was…. cured.
OF ALL THE NERVE!
Joking aside, this announcement’s long overdue, and I apologize. It’s nice to know (or think?) that you still have some time and love for something so passé between all the newest, hottest internet fads
From its origins in relative obscurity, Gunstar Heroes has nowadays become a divinity of the highest digital strata and the oft-anthologized posterchild for Genesis-exclusive action games. With this rediscovered and re-evaluated “treasure” and the art of digital reproduction at its disposal, SEGA has certainly tried to proselytized a younger generation of gamers–which is all well and good, but that isn’t my main concern.
I played Gunstar Heroes on a whim, at a time when people had generally stopped renting, selling, playing, or caring about Genesis games. But if anything is fate, then that visit to the barely-profitable rental place not two doors down from me was it–or maybe it was that free Fruit Roll-Up they promised on the box of the game. I don’t remember.
However, there has always been one feat that has daunted me; one I have oft seen, but never replicated: finishing the game on Expert, alone. The best I may be able to do is beat it down in 2-player… but we’ll see.
I don’t know when I’ll get this video in exactly, but I hope it’s before the Space Channel 5 episode that I’d hinted at previously. Truth be told, I would like that one to be a production to match the game, which was on a galactic scale–but since I’m not likely to win the lottery, it’ll at least make use of Hallowe’en costumes
Thanks to Mike for suggesting the episode title.

You better not be cured! Well, at least for like 2 more years. XD
I’m pretty hyped for this one cause I’m curious as to what kind of problem gaming Gunstar Heroes will inspire. Sounds like it’ll be most epic PG episode evar! (okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit too much here)
btw, there was a ps2 port of the game? How was that? I mean, Gunstar Heroes on a DVD; there better be good amount of extra content in that and not just the release of the sega genesis game.
Hahaha. Yes, it should indeed be interesting! It’s going to be–how would one put it?–a “robust” episode. It’s taking a while to really flesh-out the script and get the sequence right… it’s a bit more of an homage than I normally do. I’m going to show just what kind of menace this game is…
As for the PS2 game, it’s an import called Treasure Box, but Gunstar Heroes does head it up (obviously). It also has the games Alien Soldier and Dynamite Heady, which are great, in their Japanese and Overseas forms, and where applicable, the Prototype, Master System, and Game Gear versions. There’s quite a lot of official artwork, mock-ups, complete manual scans for all regions.. just stuff for the real fan.
I believe I got it for 26 dollars or so, so for me it was well worth the money… even if it doesn’t come close to filling a disc XD
Oh, it has Japanese versions as well. I see why a crazed fan would go for this port then.
And yesh, totally lookin forward to this episode. =D
Hehe, yeah. Newer TV’s treat it a lot nicer than a Genesis on RCA cables…
The new eps’a comin’ soon!
