Problem Gamer: “Sonichosis”, Act 3!

Tan-ta-ta-TAAAN!

Yes, it’s really him! It’s SUPER Sonic, and he’s in Zone 1!

The Sonichosis trilogy may now rightfully be called as such! All my problem Sonic gaming comes to a head in this video, where the unthinkable becomes.. thinkable. You’ll see how the proud Genesis giant, Sonic 2, bows to the dogged will of a mere problem gamer, shattering all the mores of game design so caringly crafted by Sonic Team.

We may all know the outcome by this point, but the experience is in the journey. And oh what a journey it was.

Though I really appreciate the support of the faithful fans, I really feel like taking a break after this one. If it even sticks and I don’t find myself jonesing to make another video, it’d be just a short hiatus, and only from making videos. I still plan to keep this place updated with new writings and through other, less space-time-tearing activities. (EDITI think I may just wait til later next month.)

In any case, I hope you enjoy the show!

Heey! You actually have a professional site and everything! its Jaeman, from Gametrailers, and im glad to see you doing everything you can, and hopefully its paying off.

Either Way, i wanted to ask what kind of stuff making these videos requires? Im getting a dumpy webcam, the ability to talk too much, and want to do at least one video in my internet life.

Also, i would love to donate, but lacking a credit card, it would be hard to do for me. I proabably will, even if its just ten bucks shoved in an envelope.

Hi Jaeman! So nice of you to come :)

I really respect that you want to do a video! It’s great fun, and it gives you the feeling you can connect with people :D

The camera I have now is a Kodak Zx1, a nice little HD pocket camcorder that runs about US$150, but needs to be powered by a USB Hub or other external source (a Rockband Hub will do the trick, if you have it; otherwise, gotta buy that too).

Then there’s a cheap USB mic for other narration, a lot of lights (cheap cams don’t perform well in low light!), and of course a computer–a desktop PC with a 2-core, 2.8gHz CPU and a Gig of RAM, which I was so fortunate as to get from the last place I worked.. free.
I then proceeded to buy a 256MB video card (~US$60), because I wasn’t at all convinced the 96MB integrated video would do the trick (and it was the best I could afford). I’d say you should have at least 128MB.

There’s still some things my machine can’t do very well–for example, captures of Playstation 1 games stress it out a bit. If you plan to do screen captures, see what kind of Frames per Second you can get with your computer. My philosophy: 10fps or more is OK! ;)

If you want to know about the software, there’s a lot on the “About” page. Feel free to take notes and load a LOT of free software on your machine–it helps.

      Thanks again for visiting! :)

Damn, that was a lot more than i expected! Thank you very much. i really don’t have to worry about the Computer stuff. i bought a new one last December from a private Manufacturer under my friends recommendation, and i got an intel i7 @ 2.9, OC to 3.4(?), 3GB DDR3 RAM (that stuff was expensive. I wanted more, but, jeez! it was like an extra 300 bucks for 6, and then i would’ve needed 64 bit Vista), 2 512MB video cards, and a Terabyte Hard Drive (there is no way im gonna fill that. im no pirate, but even with my downloaded video game music, 4 games and extra apps, i still haven’t burned 300GB yet). And get this, all that was state of the art. Brand new, with all the bells and whistles (a monitor, keyboard, sound system, mouse, blu ray drive, webcam, 2 free games: Halo 2 and Far Cry 2) for 1800. Sounds like a lot, but i saw a Dell in an ad 6 months later for 2300, not including a monitor, keyboard, mouse, Less Hard drive and worse system design. Never buy from them.

I also got a poorly designed hand held camera, along with a poorly functioning Webcam, so im gonna need upgrades there, and i know where to get almost all emulators (save Saturn). I even had FFVII running on my computer for some time, when i decided that it wasn’t worth the lag, so ill have to adjust. I also guess im gonna need some more games, and a 360 if i want to be the true super nerd.

Sorry for ranting on about my computer, but I appreciate the help!

I know it’s been a month and more, but …you have a very enviable machine, and you got it for a very enviable price :)

I hope you’ve started to do some videos!

(And I agree, Dell has wronged me too. I don’t think I would buy from them again.)
